1995 - 2024 Grulla - Peal Girl was the unicorn of the ranch, unfortunately on August 5, 2024 we had to put her down at 29 years old. She left a legacy and made a positive impact on many people through her long life.
She was the trusted confidence booster for many riders throughout her life. Competing in Cowboy Mounted shooting for over 20 years. She was the horse you could put anyone young or old on and know that they were going to be taken care of.
A Sorrel gelding, he is the longest standing equine member of the ranch, having been around from the inception. He's estimated to be in the 19-20 years old range.
He is at the top of the pecking order within the herd here at Gingerbread ranch and enjoys trail rides.
2012 Bay - Brandy is the newest addition to the Gingerbread Ranch competition sting. After Dusti went down with her injury, the search for a backup/second shooting horse was started. It took over 6 months to find a horse that check the boxes.
Purchased site unseen out of North Dakota, Brandy has turned out to be better than first thought. She is a powerhouse of a horse in a short body. When she gets into game mode she gives it her all every run. We look forward to the future together with this mare.
2022 Red Roan Gelding - The first foal to be born on the ranch, currently he is in training with Brittany Factor, a reined cowhorse trainer based in Rio Verde, AZ.
He is by Metallic Malice out of a daughter of CD Olena.
Both rescues, Kyle (left) and Tanner (right), hold down the fort on the home front. They are an integral part of the morale of the team.
Tanner is ~7-9 years old, he was rescued from the pound in Tucson, AZ. Supposed to be a "pure bred" shepherd, he was very inbred causing a severe underbite as well as thin ribcage. He is the best sweetest boy. He loves life
Kyle is a 3 year old that was rescued from the streets of east Phoenix, shortly after adoption his right back leg had to be amplutated due to a condition he was born with. BUT he currently has no idea he is a tripod. He loves life.
The Boys as they are known around here are currently laying down, one on each side of me as i type this.
Bourbon and Cab are BLM rescue burros. They both came via a local TIP trainer that gentled them prior to coming home to the ranch.
Bourbon (dark) was ~7 years old at the time she was adopted and came from the area around Kingman, AZ. As expected being wild for such a long while, she took a wile to warm up to humans,, however now she enjoys human attention. If you turn your back to her shell almost always be there waiting for pets.
Cab was ~6 months old when she was adopted. She was a little fluff ball, but because of her lack of being in the wild, she has no fear of anything. From day 1 she didn't care which horse was eating where, if she wanted it she was going to eat, She is a feisty one., but also the sweetest
